Valentine’s Crafts for Kids
1. Valentine’s Heart Feet Picture
This is one of the simplest Valentine’s crafts to do with your kids. All you need is some paint and my free printable. There are two options available for this cute Valentine’s craft and you get access to both when you enter your email at the bottom of this post.
Then, you’ll be ready to do this easy Valentine’s craft with your little one. You can even do this with your baby!
When my second daughter was in the hospital for heart failure as a baby, the resident art therapist came around to our room with some paint and got my daughter’s footprint on some Shrinky Dink to make into a keychain.

After she left, I realized she had left some of her paint bottles behind. Knowing she wouldn’t mind, I used some to make a heart shape out of my daughter’s footprints on some paper to give to family members.
And that is where the inspiration for this heart feet picture comes from.
Here’s what you need for this Valentine’s Day craft:
- Paint or stamp ink
- Foam paint brush

The hardest part about this craft is getting your child’s wiggly, tickley feet to hold still. Simply paint the bottom of one foot with the foam paint brush (or rub the ink pad all over the foot) and place your child’s foot on one side of the inside of the heart.
Wipe that foot clean and then do the same thing with the other foot on the other side of the heart.
Wallah! You have a cute Valentine for your child to give to someone special.
2. Valentine Pom pom Buddies
I adore these! These might be my favorite of these Valentine’s crafts for kids.
To make these Valentine pom pom buddies, you will need:
- Yarn in your color of choice
- Small piece of cardboard
- Googly eyes
- Foam heart stickers
- Sparkle pom poms
- Glue
- Scissors
To make the pom pom, simply wrap the yarn around the piece of cardboard (anywhere from 4 inches tall and up depending on how large you want your pom pom to be). Keep wrapping until it is very thick around the cardboard (and I do mean very thick) and then cut the string of yarn you’ve been using to wrap the cardboard.
Next, cut a long piece of yarn and thread it through underneath all of the layers of yarn that are wrapped around the cardboard. Tie the single strand of yarn around the thick layer of gathered yarn tightly with a double knot.

Now, using the scissors, cut through the thick layer of yarn on the opposite side of where you tied it together.
Once the yarn is off of the cardboard, you can fluff it up and trim your pom pom to give it an even haircut if you want.
And finally, glue on your googly eyes, pom pom nose and foam heart ears.
3. Valentine Bookmarks
These bookmarks are so easy. This makes a nice light Valentine’s craft for a day when your kids (or you) are feeling lazy.
Here’s what you are going to need:
- Felt strips
- Foam letter stickers
- Foam heart stickers
- Jewel stickers
- Glitter
- Yarn
- Hole punch
- Glue
- Scissors
All you really need to do for these bookmarks is cut your felt into a rectangle, punch a hole at the top, thread three long pieces of yarn through it, gather them all together and tie them in a knot at the top of the felt.
The rest is up to you and your kids’ creative genius to decorate the bookmarks however you see fit! Use some puffy, sparkly letter stickers, jewel stickers, heart stickers and glitter and go to town!
4. Valentine Noise Maker
This noise maker is another one of those super simple Valentine’s crafts to do with your kids. Here’s what you will need:
- Toilet paper tubes (2)
- Cheerios
- Tissue paper
- Curling ribbon
- Jewel Stickers
- Glitter
- Glue
- Tape
- Scissors
To make this craft, cut two circles out of one of the tubes to use on the ends of the other tube (trace the circles first by using the other tube for your stencil). Tape one of the circles to one end of the tube.
Then fill the tube 1/3 – 1/2 of the way full with Cheerios. Next, tape the other circle on the other end of the tube.
Now it’s time to make the noise-maker pretty. Fold up your tissue paper until it is about 2 inches longer than your tube on each end. Lightly spread glue all over the tube (no need to put glue on the ends). Then roll the tube in the tissue paper, adding glue as needed for overlap.

Once it is completely rolled, cut a couple of long pieces of ribbon and tie the ends of the tissue paper. Curl the ribbons.
Now all that’s left to do is decorate with jewels, stickers, glue and glitter!
5. Valentine Painted Heart Shirt
This painted heart shirt is possibly the easiest-on this list of Valentines crafts for kids.
Here’s what you will need:
- Plain t-shirt
- Acrylic paint
- Sponge
- Foam paint brush
- Scissors
Liquitex acrylic paint is what I use. It will not come off in the wash which makes it perfect for painting clothing. However, please also be aware that this will not come off of flooring, cabinets, etc. once it’s dry, so be very careful and use plastic trash bags to protect your floors.
Before breaking out the paint, you will need to cut your sponge into a heart shape and lay the t-shirt on a flat surface.
Then, get your Valentine’s-colored paints out and use the foam paint brush to paint one side of your heart sponge. You want it to be evenly and generously coated in paint but not so much that it will be oozing out the sides of your heart.
Next, simply stamp the t-shirt with the painted sponge in various colors of hearts in whatever design you and your child like. When you are finished, be sure to let it dry for a while in a safe place.
And that’s all there is to it! Your child now has a Valentine’s Day shirt!
