7 Last Minute Quick and Easy Easter Activities for Kids

Do you need some quick and easy Easter activities for your kids to do that will remind them of why we celebrate Easter? Then you are in the right place at the right time (even if it feels a little late).

I often feel woefully inadequate to teach my kids how to focus on the true meaning of holidays. I do my best with crafts, books, activities and Bible reading. But I often find myself so caught up with the busyness and challenges of every day life that I don’t even realize a holiday is approaching until it’s nearly upon us.

With an especially interruption-prone and hectic daily life this year with the addition of my 1-year-old, even talking about the meaning of Easter has been a challenge with my 6-year-old. I did manage to force in a quick palm Sunday Bible lesson when we did not make it to church due to illness last weekend. But that’s as far as the Easter lessons have gone in our house so far this year.

Last Minute Quick and Easy Easter Activities

My mom bought this book for my older daughter a couple of years ago and my daughter and I absolutely love it.

It has three separate stories in it: The Legend of the Easter Egg, The Legend of the Easter Robin and The Legend of the Sand Dollar. Each story involves a child learning about Jesus’ death, resurrection and offer of new life through the telling of legends associated with the symbols of Easter.

Although the hardcover copy may not arrive in time for this Easter, the Kindle version can be downloaded instantly. Quick and easy.

These super simple resurrection eggs from Families with Grace have got to be the easiest DIY version I have ever come across. There are only 6 eggs instead of 12 which makes them quicker to fill.

As long as you have 6 plastic eggs lying around, a printer, a rock, paper and pen, a piece of paper towel, a piece of bread or a cracker and a piece of candy, you have all you need for making this resurrection egg set. She even has a free printable that’s quick and easy to download with the necessary verses all ready to go for you!

I love this free printable Easter pack from Mary Martha Mama! I did this with my daughter a few years ago when she was a preschooler.

It is easy to access and requires very little preparation to set up for your child. Just print and do a little cutting and you have several good activity pages that tell the story of Easter. It’s one of those quick and easy Easter activities your child can be working on while you are doing your own work.

This free printable Easter Bingo game from Coffee with Us 3 is a fun way to stir up conversations about Jesus’ death and resurrection. My daughter has always loved themed Bingo games. What kid wouldn’t?

And this is one of the most quick and easy Easter activities out there. Just print and do a very small amount of cutting to get this game ready. Use coins, Cheerios, or anything else for markers on the cards!

This printable Easter scavenger hunt by Happy Home Fairy has 10 clue cards you can hide to lead your child to his Easier basket. She made it simple by specifying where to hide each clue. And all that is required of you is to print, cut and hide them in their designated places.

She says to put the clues inside plastic Easter eggs, but you could also just hide the paper cards on their own if you don’t have plastic eggs.

What I really love is that the cute, rhyming clues keep Jesus front and center during this quick and easy Easter activity.

Open Bible with note: "Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe."

Personally, I don’t do Easier baskets for my kids, but I printed this anyway because my older daughter loves scavenger hunts. I’ll just hide a small treat (probably some Lilly’s sugar-free white chocolate chips) for her to find at the end.

You can’t beat a good old fashioned word search. This is such a quick and easy, no prep Easter activity for your child. You don’t even need the scissors for this one. Just a printer!

There are several printable Christian Easter word search options on Pinterest, but what I like about this one from Loving Homeschool is that she provides two level options. One is simpler for younger children and one is harder for older kids.

Alternatively or additionally, you could also print off her Christian Easter word scramble (which also has two level options).

Coloring pages are pretty self-explanatory. You really can’t go wrong with coloring pages for anyone age 1 to 100. We all love to color right along with our kids.

And I really like these coloring pages from Simply Love Printables. They are cute but also tell the Easter story. Some of them have verses on them, some are just expressive pictures of the people involved in and affected by Jesus’ death and resurrection. Either way, this is another one of those super quick and easy Easter activities that is a great conversation-starter.

How Quick and Easy Was That?

There you have it! It doesn’t get much quicker or easier than the Christ-centered Easter activities in this post. If you are still feeling overwhelmed, just pick one of the quick and easy Easter activities from this list to do with your child in preparation or celebration of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

And one last thing. Easter is almost here and there are more mamas like you and me scrambling to prepare our children’s hearts and minds for the real meaning of Easter in the midst of the busyness of motherhood. Please share this post to help another mama out!
